Sereact, the specialist for AI-based robot control, is now part of the Körber Supply Chain ecosystem. The aim of the partnership is to strengthen the position of both companies in intralogistics and to deploy robot-based picking as an integral part of holistic solutions. Körber now has Sereact's AI-based control system and complementary robot hardware in its portfolio. An initial joint project with a leading German mechanical engineering company is already in the implementation phase.
By integrating automatic single-item picking into solutions for both production and distribution, challenges such as labor shortages, reduction of error rates, and short processing and delivery times can be addressed. AI-based gripping software plays a key role in the range of “pickable” goods and the handling of new objects unknown to the system.
As with all robotics technology, a thorough understanding of the user’s processes and seamless integration into other automated material handling technology is key. As one of the leading providers of integrated complete systems, Körber can offer the level of consulting and integration required to successfully deploy Sereact's picking solutions. Well integrated, advanced robotic solutions enable companies to reduce personnel costs and address staff shortages. Fluctuations in throughput performance are easier to manage thanks to reduced dependence on personnel.
Sereact technology encompasses state-of-the-art generative AI-techniques, low-level robotics, and innovative hardware design. The comprehensive robotics framework uses imitation and reinforcement learning and, in particular, a vision-language model. The latter fully understands and interprets product titles, descriptions, and other text information to automatically identify corresponding items and assign areas in an image.
Careful planning is carried out on a project-by-project basis, starting with the identification of “pickable” items, through the definition of the desired processes, e.g., “pick-and-place”, to ensuring the required throughput. Körber and Sereact work closely together to implement fully integrated, customized solutions for the specific requirements using AI-based picking.
Körber's Supply Chain business area brings together the expertise of innovative partners in a dynamically growing ecosystem that offers a wide range of customized end-to-end solutions for the supply chain. These solutions are seamlessly integrated into the value chains of Körber's customers for optimal efficiency and performance. Together with the Stuttgart-based provider Sereact, Körber is further expanding its position as a leading integrator of robot systems.
„Our customers face the challenge of remaining competitive in a dynamic market. As a result, demand for flexible, scalable automation solutions is growing. With Sereact’s class leading technology, Körber can now offer advanced robotic single item picking – all seamlessly integrated into our customer’s operations” says Michiel Veenman, Vice President Advanced Technology Integration Körber Supply Chain Automation.
