Cargolux has confirmed that a Luxembourg court has ratified a plea agreement between the airline and the Luxembourg State Prosecutor regarding an influence peddling case linked to its operations in Gabon. The company emphasized that the ruling affects only the company itself, does not involve any individuals, and will have no impact on its day-to-day operations, customers, or global cargo services.
The case relates to business activities carried out between 2010 and 2015. According to Cargolux, the airline voluntarily reported the matter to Luxembourg authorities in 2015 after discovering it internally and has fully cooperated with investigators throughout the legal process. As part of the court-approved agreement, the company accepted penalties totaling approximately €1.15 million. Luxembourg prosecutors also acknowledged the airline's voluntary disclosure and cooperation during the investigation.
Following the investigation, Cargolux said it significantly strengthened its compliance framework by introducing stricter internal controls, enhanced corporate governance, and updated ethics and compliance procedures aligned with international best practices. The airline stated that these measures reinforce its commitment to responsible and transparent business conduct.
Despite the legal proceedings, Cargolux stressed that the judgment will not affect flight operations, cargo services, or customer activity. The airline reaffirmed its commitment to operating ethically, transparently, and with integrity while continuing to provide reliable air cargo services across its global network.
