DB Cargo Automotive Expands Network with New Terminal in Hungary

DB Cargo Automotive in partnership with Große-Vehne has established a new transhipment terminal in Kecskemét Hungary, further strengthening its European Automotive RailNet.


The new facility adds an important access point for both intermodal and conventional transport and is located just seven kilometres from a major automotive production site, enabling faster and more efficient final mile delivery.


Enhancing Multimodal Transport Efficiency

Since January 2026 trailers have been transported daily by rail between Kornwestheim and Kecskemét, with handling carried out using reach stackers.


DB Cargo Automotive provides full door to door transport solutions combining rail for the main leg and road transport for final distribution. This integrated approach ensures seamless multimodal operations and improved efficiency across the transport chain.


Strategic Investment and Future Capacity

The Kecskemét terminal has been upgraded to meet current transport demand, including improvements to transhipment processes and operational testing to ensure stable performance.


Further investments are planned including the addition of another reach stacker to increase capacity and improve resilience. The site is also being prepared for future cargo types including potential battery shipments.


Strengthening the Automotive RailNet

The new terminal reinforces DB Cargo Automotive’s Europe wide Automotive RailNet and improves connectivity to South East Europe.


Its proximity to key automotive production facilities provides both existing and new customers with more efficient transport options, supporting the growing demand for flexible and reliable logistics solutions in the automotive sector.


Summary

With the new transhipment hub in Kecskemét DB Cargo Automotive and Große Vehne are expanding their long term cooperation and enhancing multimodal logistics capabilities across Europe.


The development strengthens network connectivity improves efficiency and creates additional capacity to support future growth in the automotive and industrial sectors.
