DHL Freight Adds First European-Built Electric Heavy Truck to Its Fleet

DHL Freight has taken delivery of the first series-produced SuperPanther eTopas 600 electric heavy-duty truck manufactured in Europe, marking another milestone in the company’s transition toward low-emission road transport. The vehicle was produced at the SuperPanther plant in Steyr, Austria, and will begin commercial operations in the Netherlands this September.
The partnership between DHL Freight and SuperPanther began in 2024 and was followed by extensive real-world testing throughout 2025. After successful trials on routes in Austria, DHL confirmed the truck’s suitability for daily logistics operations and decided to integrate it into its European transport network.
The deployment forms part of DHL Freight’s broader sustainability strategy to expand its fleet of zero- and low-emission vehicles while reducing carbon emissions across its road transport operations. By investing in next-generation electric trucks, the company aims to support more sustainable supply chains without compromising operational efficiency.
