DHL and JD.com have agreed to collaborate on innovative logistics and e-commerce initiatives, aiming to create seamless, integrated solutions that better connect brands, merchants, and consumers across both continents.
DHL Group and JD.com, China’s largest retailer by revenue, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to support German brands entering the Chinese market and strengthen their presence in Europe through JD.com’s European retail platform, Joybuy. The agreement was signed at JD.com’s headquarters in Beijing and focuses on building seamless logistics and e-commerce solutions connecting Europe and China.
The partnership combines DHL’s global logistics network with JD.com’s large e-commerce ecosystem, creating new opportunities for German brands to expand internationally. DHL will introduce German companies to JD.com’s platform, where they can sell products directly to more than 700 million Chinese consumers without needing a physical presence in China.
Both companies will also work together on end-to-end logistics solutions through JD Logistics. These integrated services aim to improve shipping efficiency from Europe to China and reduce costs through preferential customs duties and VAT schemes for direct B2C shipments.
JD.com will additionally provide e-commerce support such as marketing tools, consumer insights, and operational services. Combined with DHL’s experience in international trade and shipping, this creates a strong ecosystem that helps brands enter the Chinese market more easily and scale their business faster.
DHL CEO Tobias Meyer said the partnership will help European companies access China’s vast market by combining DHL’s logistics strength with JD.com’s platform reach and fulfillment capabilities. JD.com CEO Sandy Xu added that the cooperation will help brands better understand Chinese consumer demand and improve their market strategies.
As part of the initiative, JD.com will also help German brands reach more European customers through Joybuy, offering a new sales channel and retail infrastructure in Europe. This strengthens DHL’s role as a key logistics partner for European e-commerce growth.
Why This Partnership Matters
Easier market entry for German brands in China
Better logistics and lower shipping costs
