FedEx to Develop $150 Million Air Cargo Hub at Delhi Airport

FedEx has announced plans to develop a new integrated air cargo hub at GMR Cargo City, located at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport. The project represents a long-term investment of approximately $150 million.
The fully automated facility will cover around 230,000 sq ft and combine international gateway activities with pickup-and-delivery operations under one roof. Once operational, it is expected to increase FedEx’s processing capacity from 600 to 5,000 packages per hour, with the possibility of further expansion as demand grows.
The hub will feature an advanced automated sorting system, next-generation X-ray equipment, enhanced security measures and intelligent package-handling technologies. These capabilities are expected to accelerate shipment processing, improve reliability and strengthen the resilience of FedEx’s network.
The investment will reinforce connections between businesses across northern and eastern India and international markets. It will also support the country’s growing trade, e-commerce and express logistics sectors while strengthening Delhi’s position as a major global air cargo gateway.
