Hapag-Lloyd Strengthens Partnership with DP World to Support Growth in Africa
Hapag-Lloyd and DP World have announced an expansion of their long-standing partnership in Africa, combining long-term terminal capacity with support for new and expanded port infrastructure.
The cooperation covers five locations. Hapag-Lloyd plans to secure terminal capacity in Dakar, Senegal; Luanda, Angola; and Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The companies will also support port infrastructure development in Banana, Democratic Republic of the Congo; and Maputo, Mozambique.
The agreement is intended to give Hapag-Lloyd a stronger foundation for its growing African service network. The carrier expects its transport volumes on the continent to exceed one million TEU in 2026 and says reliable terminal access will be important as demand increases.
For freight forwarders and shippers, the partnership signals continued investment in African port connectivity. The announced capacity arrangements and infrastructure projects are designed to support future growth, although their effect on individual services will depend on how the plans are implemented.
