HERE Technologies has launched new EV planning capabilities within its HERE Tour Planning tool aimed at helping logistics operators manage increasingly complex mixed fleets of electric and internal combustion vehicles. The upgrade, announced on Feb. 9, introduces advanced routing and optimization features designed to improve efficiency as commercial EV adoption continues to grow.

The company, which is a global mapping and location technology provider headquartered in the Netherlands, specializes in location data, navigation software and fleet solutions used worldwide.

The new functionality addresses key operational challenges associated with EVs, including fluctuating battery range, charging requirements and infrastructure availability. Unlike traditional routing systems, the tool incorporates vehicle-specific variables such as payload, temperature and energy consumption, enabling more accurate and realistic route planning.

According to HERE Technologies, the system can deliver up to 20% better planning and routing performance while improving estimated arrival times by up to 15%. This is achieved through a physical energy consumption model that learns each vehicle’s operating profile rather than relying on generalized assumptions.

The platform also integrates AI-powered capabilities that allow fleets to account for real-time factors such as traffic congestion, road closures, delivery windows and vehicle restrictions. This enables operators to dynamically adjust routes and improve overall efficiency across mixed fleets.

In addition, the solution supports advanced scenario planning, allowing companies to simulate “what-if” situations such as EV fleet expansion or network changes before making operational decisions.

The upgraded capabilities are currently available to select customers, with further enhancements planned throughout 2026 as fleets continue transitioning toward electrification.
