LATAM Cargo Transports 15 Rescued Big Cats on Special Charter Flight

LATAM Cargo has completed a complex charter operation transporting eight tigers and seven lions from Buenos Aires, Argentina, to Denver, United States, with a technical stop in Santiago, Chile.
The operation was organised following a rescue mission by animal welfare organisation Four Paws International. After arriving in Denver, the animals were transferred to specialised vehicles for the final journey to The Wild Animal Sanctuary in Keenesburg, Colorado.
The shipment weighed approximately 5.4 tonnes, including 2.5 tonnes for the animals and 2.9 tonnes for their specially designed transport crates. LATAM Cargo worked alongside freight forwarder DSV, Four Paws International and Intermodal Logistics Services to coordinate the operation.
More than 15 specialists from LATAM Cargo participated in the planning and execution of the flight. The Boeing 767 freighter maintained controlled temperature, ventilation and pressurisation conditions throughout the journey, while a dedicated animal welfare specialist accompanied the animals and supervised handling procedures.
The operation complied with IATA Live Animals Regulations, CITES requirements and all applicable veterinary, health and regulatory standards. Careful preparation and close coordination helped minimise waiting times, handling and stress for the rescued animals.
The flight formed part of a wider international initiative involving the simultaneous relocation of 30 captive big cats from South America to new homes in North America and Africa.
