As India continues to strengthen its position as a global manufacturing and trade hub, efficient and connected logistics infrastructure is becoming increasingly important.

On 22 October 2026, Maersk, in partnership with the CII Institute of Logistics, will host RAIL FORWARD at Le Méridien in New Delhi – an executive roundtable focused on the growing role of rail and multimodal logistics in India's supply chains.

Rail as a Key Driver of India's Logistics Growth

Major investments in Dedicated Freight Corridors, Multimodal Logistics Parks, inland terminals and integrated transport infrastructure are creating new opportunities for manufacturers, exporters and logistics providers.

Rail freight is expected to play an increasingly important role in moving larger cargo volumes efficiently while improving connectivity between manufacturing centres, inland logistics hubs, terminals and India's major ports.

However, the opportunity extends beyond rail alone. The real potential lies in combining rail, road transportation, warehousing, ports, terminals and technology into integrated end-to-end supply chain solutions.

Bringing Industry Leaders Together

RAIL FORWARD will bring together senior representatives from manufacturing, logistics, supply chain, procurement and export-focused industries.

Discussions will focus on how rail logistics can support India's manufacturing and export ambitions, improve freight predictability and operational control, and strengthen connections between production centres and international trade gateways.

The event will also examine the partnerships, technology and capabilities required to maximise the value of India's growing logistics infrastructure.

As India continues investing in its transport network, integrated multimodal logistics could become an important competitive advantage for companies operating across one of the world's fastest-developing manufacturing and trade markets.
