Members of the world’s largest liner shipping operational agreement, OCEAN Alliance, have announced a major upgrade to their global service network with the signing of the “OCEAN Alliance Day 10 Product” in Boao. The agreement, signed by Evergreen Line, COSCO Shipping Line, CMA CGM, and Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL), will take effect from April 2026, further strengthening Evergreen’s service portfolio within the alliance framework. The Day 10 Product represents one of the most extensive liner shipping networks currently planned, reflecting the alliance’s continued focus on scale, network resilience and service flexibility amid ongoing volatility in global trade lanes.
A Network Built on Scale and Coverage
Under the Day 10 Product, the OCEAN Alliance intends to deploy approximately 390 container vessels, with a combined nominal capacity of nearly 5.2 million TEUs. The network will span 41 weekly service loops and offer more than 520 direct port pairs, providing shippers with broad global coverage and multiple routing options.
The expanded network is designed to support both traditional east–west trades and increasingly complex routing requirements driven by geopolitical risks, canal constraints and supply chain diversification.
Strengthened East–West Trade Lanes
A core element of the Day 10 Product is the reinforcement of Far East–Europe and Far East–Mediterranean services, with multiple loop options via both the Suez Canal and the Cape of Good Hope. This dual-routing approach reflects ongoing uncertainty in key maritime chokepoints and gives customers greater flexibility in transit time and risk management.
The alliance will operate:
Seven Far East–North Europe services
Four Far East–Mediterranean services
These services connect major Asian export hubs with key European gateway and feeder ports, maintaining dense coverage across Northern Europe, the Mediterranean and the Black Sea hinterland.
Expanded Transpacific Capacity
The Day 10 Product places strong emphasis on the Transpacific trade, offering 22 weekly services across multiple U.S. gateways. This includes:
Services to the U.S. West Coast
Expanded coverage of the Pacific Northwest
Dedicated loops serving the U.S. East Coast and Gulf, primarily via the Panama Canal
By maintaining multiple routing options and port combinations, the alliance aims to support stable capacity deployment for North American importers while balancing congestion risks and inland connectivity.
Continued Transatlantic and Middle East Connectivity
In addition to Asia-centric trades, the alliance confirmed the continuation of three Transatlantic services, operated under a separate cooperation agreement involving COSCO, CMA CGM, Evergreen, OOCL and ONE since February 2025. These services link major North European ports with the U.S. East Coast, U.S. Gulf and Mexico.
The Day 10 Product also includes:
Three Far East–Middle East services, strengthening connectivity to Gulf hubs such as Jebel Ali, Abu Dhabi and Dammam
Two Far East–Red Sea services, which remain temporarily suspended due to the ongoing security situation in the region
Strategic Implications for Shippers
For cargo owners and freight forwarders, the Day 10 Product signals several important trends:
Network resilience through parallel routing via Suez and the Cape of Good Hope
Greater schedule choice across major east–west corridors
Enhanced port pair connectivity, reducing reliance on transshipment
Scale-driven stability, supporting long-term contract planning
Evergreen’s strengthened participation within the alliance further enhances its ability to offer tailored services across multiple trade lanes while leveraging alliance-wide capacity and operational coordination.
Looking Ahead
With implementation scheduled for April 2026, the OCEAN Alliance Day 10 Product represents a forward-looking response to an increasingly complex global shipping environment. As carriers adapt to shifting trade patterns, regulatory pressures and geopolitical risk, large-scale alliance networks continue to play a central role in maintaining connectivity and service reliability for global supply chains.
