DP World welcomed Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum to Jebel Ali Port, where he reviewed the port’s latest operations, infrastructure developments, and multimodal logistics investments aimed at strengthening Dubai’s position as a global trade hub.
During the visit, Sheikh Hamdan was briefed on the port’s operational performance over the past two months, during which DP World handled nearly 200,000 TEUs through regional overland truck and rail corridors. The figures highlight the growing importance of multimodal transport solutions and the resilience of Dubai’s wider logistics network.
Sheikh Hamdan praised the teams at Jebel Ali Port for maintaining high operational standards and ensuring uninterrupted trade flows through one of the world’s leading maritime gateways. He emphasized that Dubai’s global trade leadership has been built on long-term infrastructure investment, connectivity, and supply chain resilience.
The visit also included tours of several strategic facilities, including the Jebel Ali Rail Terminal, the BOXBAY high-bay storage system, and Terminal 2’s operations centre. The rail terminal currently operates up to eight daily services and has an annual handling capacity of 800,000 TEUs, with expansion plans targeting 1.6 million TEUs annually in the future.
DP World stated that the ongoing investments in rail connectivity, automation, and digital logistics systems are designed to improve supply chain efficiency while supporting the UAE’s role in global commerce. Jebel Ali Port remains a central component of the country’s economic infrastructure, connecting more than 12,000 companies with international markets across manufacturing, logistics, retail, healthcare, and other industries.
According to DP World Chairman Essa Kazim, the company’s long-term strategy focuses on building diversified and resilient logistics infrastructure capable of adapting to changing global trade patterns.
