A.P. Moller–Maersk has expanded its long-standing partnership with Columbia Sportswear through a new five-year warehousing and distribution agreement covering the United Kingdom and Ireland.
Under the agreement, Maersk will manage Columbia’s Pick & Pack operations from its multi-customer logistics facility in Tamworth, near Birmingham. The new operation will replace the company’s current distribution setup in Cambrai, France, bringing inventory closer to customers and creating a faster and more responsive regional supply chain.
Approximately 8,000 square metres of the Tamworth facility will be dedicated to Columbia’s operations. The warehouse is expected to handle around 1.6 million inbound and outbound units annually and manage approximately 25,000 SKUs, including footwear, apparel, accessories and outdoor equipment.
The operation will support all of Columbia’s main sales channels, including e-commerce, retail and wholesale. Maersk will also provide customs handling, inland transportation, cross-docking and final-mile delivery services for retail and wholesale shipments.
The localised setup is intended to improve delivery times, flexibility and supply chain resilience while supporting Columbia Sportswear’s continued growth in the UK and Irish markets.
