Maersk has officially launched operations at a new 71,800 sqm logistics centre in Herleshausen, Germany, further expanding its contract logistics footprint in Europe.

Located directly along the A4 motorway in the state of Hesse, the facility is strategically positioned to serve as a central hub for goods moving across Germany and neighbouring European markets. The site includes 62,800 sqm of warehouse space, alongside office and mezzanine areas.

The facility currently employs around 150 people, with Maersk expecting this number to increase to 300–400 permanent positions once fully operational. During the peak e-commerce season between October and December, the workforce could reach up to 1,000 employees.

Sustainability has also been incorporated into the development, with solar panels, rainwater collection and EV charging infrastructure. The logistics centre is aiming to achieve DGNB Gold certification.

The new site represents another step in Maersk’s expansion of its European warehousing and contract logistics network, strengthening its ability to provide integrated supply chain solutions across the region.
