The Saudi Ports Authority “Mawani” has signed a land lease contract with the Arabian Chemical Terminals Ltd. (ACT) to establish storage tanks for the handling and export of chemical and petrochemical products at Jubail Commercial Port. The project represents an investment exceeding SAR 500 million and covers an area of 49,000 square meters, contributing to enhanced operational efficiency and increased port capacity, in line with the objectives of the National Transport and Logistics Strategy to consolidate the Kingdom’s standing as a global logistics hub. This initiative forms part of Mawani’s efforts to strengthen private sector participation in supporting the national GDP and to reinforce the role of Jubail Commercial Port as a key driver of commercial activity.
The project is designed with a total storage capacity of 70,000 cubic meters, supporting the competitiveness of Saudi ports at both regional and international levels. The contract was signed by H.E. Eng. Suliman bin Khalid Al Mazroua, President of the Saudi Ports Authority, and H.E. Mr. Rakan bin Abdullah Ali Reda, Group Managing Director and Vice Chairman of the Board, in the presence of a number of officials. The project aims to develop and expand storage and export capabilities for chemical and petrochemical products in accordance with the highest international standards, while supporting supply chains efficiency. It includes the development of specialized facilities for the storage and export of chemical and petrochemical products, the provision of storage and distribution services for local and international import and export operations, in compliance with global quality and safety standards. The project also features integrated systems for handling and processing chemical materials, alongside the implementation of advanced digital and procedural systems to enhance operational efficiency and optimize operations management.
Moreover, the project will contribute to strengthening national supply chains, enhancing the Kingdom’s chemical logistics capabilities, improving operational efficiency and capacity, and boosting customer competitiveness. It also supports the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030 by advancing infrastructure development to strengthen the energy, industrial, and supply chain sectors across the Kingdom. It is worth noting that Jubail Commercial Port serves as a supporting port to King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam, playing a vital role in facilitating commercial activity and acting as a key gateway for Saudi exports and imports to global markets. The port also benefits from its strategic location to the Eastern Province’s main industrial complex and the petrochemical manufacturing facilities in Jubail Industrial City.
