SAP has introduced a new vision for autonomous supply chain management, highlighting the growing role of artificial intelligence in logistics and business operations. In the article “Moving Toward a More Autonomous Supply Chain,” the company explains how AI-powered assistants and autonomous agents can help businesses optimize planning, manufacturing, logistics, and asset management.

The initiative aims to help organizations respond faster to changing market demands, increasingly complex global supply networks, and rising pressure on operational efficiency. SAP plans to integrate AI tools directly into its enterprise applications so systems can automatically detect disruptions, coordinate workflows, and recommend solutions with minimal human intervention.

According to SAP, autonomous supply chains are not intended to replace employees but rather support decision-making and reduce repetitive manual tasks. Human workers will continue to define business priorities and strategic goals, while AI systems will focus on operational execution and process automation.

The company presented these innovations during the SAP Sapphire 2026 conference, where SAP also introduced its broader “Autonomous Enterprise” vision — an ecosystem in which data, business processes, and AI technologies work together seamlessly across the organization.
