Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) has introduced new logistics solutions for cargo moving from Asia to Iraq via Türkiye, offering alternative routing options amid ongoing security challenges in the Middle East.
The company said its Tiger and Phoenix services provide competitive transit times from Asia to the Turkish ports of Mersin and Iskenderun, which serve as key Mediterranean gateways for cargo destined for Iraq. From these ports, shipments can continue inland using merchant or carrier haulage solutions.
Cargo transported on the Phoenix service can move inland to Iraq via the port of Iskenderun, while shipments carried on the Tiger service can be routed through Mersin, providing efficient access to regional markets.
Key inland destinations served by the corridor include Zakho, Dohuk, Mosul, Erbil, Sulaymaniyah and Baghdad, enabling improved connectivity between Asian exporters and Iraqi import markets.
According to the company, the solution is designed to maintain stable supply chains and ensure reliable cargo flows despite the evolving geopolitical situation affecting parts of the Middle East. The services operate as part of MSC’s standalone East–West network, which includes several Asia–Mediterranean routes offering direct port calls and competitive transit times.
The inland transport corridor from Türkiye to Iraq provides efficient trucking connections from Mersin and Iskenderun to major Iraqi cities, with estimated transit times generally ranging between four and six days, depending on the final destination.
By combining maritime services with inland transport solutions, MSC aims to strengthen trade connectivity between Asia, Türkiye and Iraq while supporting regional supply chains and maintaining reliable access to inland markets.
