R2L–Roadraillink has announced the launch of a joint intermodal rail service in collaboration last week with Ukrainian Railways Cargo Poland, offering a practical solution for transporting non-cranable semi-trailers between Ukraine and European destinations.
The inaugural train departed from Lviv’s Sknyliv-Lisky Terminal, carrying semi-trailers from partners GOLAND Hungary Kft. and Koshun Group s.r.o. Upon arrival at the East-West Intermodal Logistics Plc. terminal in Fényeslitke, Hungary, the semi-trailers were carefully transferred and organized for onward delivery, demonstrating the efficiency and coordination inherent in the service.
The new rail connection is designed to provide flexibility and scalability: while the first shipment originated from Sknyliv-Lisky, other terminals across Ukraine can also be utilized, giving businesses customizable logistics options for their freight.
This intermodal service presents a faster, greener, and more reliable alternative to road-only transport, reducing dependence on truck drivers while maintaining efficient cross-border operations.
Through the coordinated efforts of R2L, East-West Intermodal Logistics Plc., and Ukrainian Railways Cargo Poland, the service provides a versatile and practical solution for moving non-cranable semi-trailers between Ukraine and Europe, simplifying a previously complex logistical challenge.
