Railport, Türkiye’s first private intermodal terminal and a joint venture between Arkas Holding and duisport, has completed its inaugural finished vehicle rail transport operation, marking a significant milestone for rail-based automotive logistics at the site, according to duisport. The first train transported 216 imported finished vehicles from Ford Otosan and successfully arrived at the Railport terminal recently, where unloading was completed efficiently. The operation involved multiple partners across the logistics chain, underscoring the coordinated nature of the service.
Multi-partner collaboration
Duisport highlighted that Mars Logistics acted as the logistics service provider, KoçZer led strategic procurement and process management, and Körfez Ulaştırma was responsible for the ongoing execution of rail operations. Wagons for the transport were supplied by Transwaggon Group.
The terminal itself is specifically equipped for handling finished vehicles. Covering approximately 22,000 square metres, Railport has a finished vehicle parking capacity of 1,563 units and features dedicated ramps to facilitate import and export operations by rail.
Expanding rail-based logistics
This new finished vehicle service follows Railport’s initial operational start in November 2025, when the terminal launched intermodal services with its first container train. By extending its operations to automotive logistics, Railport aims to promote more efficient and environmentally friendly transport by integrating freight into intermodal supply chains.
Duisport emphasized that the development aligns with its broader strategy to expand rail-based logistics solutions in Türkiye. Once fully developed, Railport is expected to handle containers, general cargo, trailers, and finished vehicles, supported by advanced operational systems and intermodal connectivity, including a dedicated terminal operating system for optimized rail and road flows.
Strategic locationSituated approximately 150 kilometres southeast of Istanbul, Railport lies at the heart of the Iron Silk Road corridor. Construction began in September 2023, and the terminal has been developed to serve as a key hub for both containerized and finished vehicle freight within the region.
With this first finished vehicle rail operation successfully completed, Railport demonstrates its capability to support efficient, sustainable, and reliable automotive logistics via rail, reinforcing its position as a strategic intermodal gateway in Türkiye.
