According to data from the Statistical Office of the Port Authority of Valencia (APV), on a year-over-year basis, Valenciaport handled 5,623,753 TEUs—just 30 containers fewer than in the previous twelve months— and 78.7 million metric tons (-1.56%) passed through the facilities in Valencia, Sagunto and Gandia. The year-to-date total stands at 59.2 million metric tons (-2.13%) and 4.2 million TEUs (-0.91%).

Over the past month, 179,002 full containers in transit were recorded, representing a 0.82% decrease compared to the same month last year. This decline, which is considerably more moderate than that observed in the year-to-date figures, helps improve the overall traffic balance.

Exports have also grown over the past 12 months

On a cumulative basis, full containers carrying goods for import have grown by 10.02%, reaching 856,431 units, while those for export stand at 681,113 TEUs (+0.31%). Transshipment, with 1,552,065 full containers, continues to show a decline of 9.81%.

By cargo type, notable year-to-date increases were seen in solid bulk (+4.58%), liquid bulk (+0.85%), and non-containerized general cargo (+2.40%). In contrast, containerized cargo recorded a 3.80% decline, in line with the trend in transshipment traffic.

China consolidates its position as the leading trading partner

The United States ranks second among international markets for container traffic, with 246,237 TEUs (-14.71%), followed by Algeria, with 225,257 units (-7.22%), and Turkey, with 142,081 containers (-18.98%).

When analyzing trade volume in metric tons, Italy ranks as Valenciaport’s second-largest international market, with 4.53 million metric tons (-12.53%), followed by the United States, with 4.38 million (-3.43%). Algeria, meanwhile, recorded just over 3 million metric tons (-16.28%).
