Amazon Freighter Overruns Runway at Miami International Airport
An Amazon Prime Air Boeing 767-300 freighter operated by 21 Air overran a runway while landing at Miami International Airport on 6 September. Flight 7598 was arriving from San Juan, Puerto Rico, when the aircraft left the runway, struck several vehicles and caught fire.
Local authorities confirmed that at least five people were killed and five others injured, including three who were in critical condition. The pilots were rescued from the aircraft, while more than 200 emergency personnel responded to the accident and a subsequent fuel leak.
Airport operations were temporarily suspended following the crash but resumed later that evening. The US National Transportation Safety Board has deployed an investigation team to determine the cause of the accident, while Amazon, 21 Air and Boeing have confirmed their cooperation with the authorities.
