Global aviation leasing company Avolon has announced a firm order for 110 Airbus aircraft, including 35 widebody A330-900 jets and 75 aircraft from the A320neo Family. The agreement, announced on October 9, 2026, represents another significant investment in next-generation aircraft as airlines worldwide continue to modernise and expand their fleets.

The latest order brings Avolon’s total purchases of Airbus A330-900 aircraft to 114, making the Dublin-based company the largest leasing customer for this aircraft type. Its overall orders for the Airbus A320 Family have also increased to approximately 650 aircraft, further strengthening its position in the global aircraft leasing market.

Avolon CEO Andy Cronin highlighted the continued strong demand for modern, fuel-efficient aircraft. The investment will allow the company to support airline customers with fleet expansion and replacement programmes well into the next decade, reflecting confidence in the long-term growth of international aviation.

The Airbus A330-900, powered by Rolls-Royce Trent 7000 engines, offers a maximum range of approximately 15,000 kilometres and delivers up to 25% lower fuel consumption, carbon emissions and operating costs compared with previous-generation competing aircraft. These capabilities make it particularly suitable for long-haul international routes.

Meanwhile, the A320neo Family remains one of the most successful aircraft programmes in commercial aviation, with more than 20,400 orders recorded across the broader A320 Family. The latest-generation models offer at least 20% improvements in fuel efficiency and carbon emissions compared with previous-generation single-aisle aircraft.

Benoît de Saint-Exupéry, Airbus Executive Vice President of Sales for Commercial Aircraft, welcomed the agreement, emphasising the strong demand for both aircraft families among leasing companies. He noted that their operational flexibility makes them attractive for airlines operating domestic, regional and long-haul services.

The Airbus agreement forms part of Avolon’s broader fleet investment strategy, which also includes an order for 140 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft and options for another 100 Airbus aircraft. Together, these commitments will strengthen the company's ability to meet growing airline demand for efficient aircraft while supporting fleet renewal and expansion across global aviation markets.
