Maersk’s latest Latin America Market Update highlights improving regional connectivity and continued investment in logistics infrastructure. The enhanced West Coast Shuttle is launching in September with a three-vessel rotation connecting Ecuador, Panama and Mexico, while the revised AC1 service provides weekly connections between Shanghai, Yokohama, Mexico, Colombia and Panama.

Port operations across Latin America remain generally stable. In Colombia, ports and inland transport corridors continue to recover following the earthquake reported in August. Brazil is progressing with infrastructure improvements at major gateways including Santos and Paranaguá, while Peru is strengthening customs digitalization and regional trade integration following the implementation of the Peru–Guatemala Free Trade Agreement.

Nearshoring and regionalization remain important drivers of change across the region, creating additional demand for warehousing, multimodal transport, air freight and cross-border logistics. Maersk expects Latin America’s role in international supply chains to continue growing as companies seek greater resilience, flexibility and proximity to their key markets.
