Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation has opened a new global engineering centre in India to strengthen its capabilities in product development, IT and customer service operations. The new facility, Fuso Tech Centre India Private Limited (FTCI), located in Kanchipuram in the state of Tamil Nadu, officially began operations on March 9, 2026.

The centre will serve as a global hub supporting a wide range of engineering and operational functions. By consolidating technical expertise within its organisation and building on the engineering knowledge developed within the Daimler Truck Group, Mitsubishi Fuso aims to accelerate development cycles while improving product quality and operational efficiency.

The new facility has a total floor area of 2,847 square metres and includes collaborative workspaces, a design studio, advanced Hardware in the Loop testing systems and a diagnostic laboratory. These technologies allow engineers to carry out sophisticated control system validation and diagnostics without requiring physical vehicle prototypes, which helps increase development speed, safety and accuracy.

The centre will support multiple functions across Mitsubishi Fuso’s global operations, including development engineering, customer service, cost engineering, IT and digital solutions and procurement. By integrating these areas within one location, the company aims to strengthen cooperation between teams and improve decision making across its international business activities.

FTCI is located near the Oragadam production plant near Chennai, which has been manufacturing medium and heavy duty Fuso trucks for export markets since 2013. The plant is operated by Daimler India Commercial Vehicles and serves as one of Daimler Truck’s key global production bases. Close cooperation between the new centre and the manufacturing facility is expected to strengthen the integration between product development, production and after sales services.

Through the establishment of the new global hub in India, Mitsubishi Fuso aims to enhance innovation, improve development efficiency and reinforce its role within the global Daimler Truck network while supporting the long term evolution of commercial vehicle technologies.
