Japanese shipping company Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL) has acquired a 25 percent equity stake in the ship management company V.Ships France, headquartered in Nantes, through its subsidiary MOL Euro Energie. The investment is aimed at strengthening MOL’s presence in Europe and expanding its cooperation with the French ship manager.
V.Ships France has been managing several MOL vessels for years, including LNG bunkering ships operating in Rotterdam and Marseille. Under the expanded partnership, the company will also take technical management of two new LNG carriers that will be delivered to energy company INEOS in 2027.
Through the investment, MOL expects to secure access to highly qualified French speaking seafarers and benefit from V.Ships France’s expertise in managing LNG and LPG vessels. The cooperation also supports MOL’s long term growth strategy and strengthens its position in the European maritime market
The partnership forms part of MOL’s broader regional strategy in continental Europe. Together with MOL Euro Energie, a French shipping company established in 2025, the investment will help the group expand its operations in the region and advance its decarbonisation initiatives in maritime transport.
