DHL Supply Chain announced the construction of a new carbon-neutral logistics center in Rheinbach, Germany, expanding its capacity in the Rhineland economic region. The facility, located in the Wolbersacker industrial park, will offer 26,600 m² of modern warehousing and transshipment space and is scheduled to begin operations in August 2026.

The new logistics center is designed to meet growing demand for flexible and high-performance logistics solutions. Its strategic location provides direct access to the A61 motorway and is close to Cologne/Bonn and Düsseldorf airports, improving connectivity to domestic and international markets.

The facility will be built according to the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB) Gold Standard and will include advanced energy systems such as a 1 MW photovoltaic installation, battery storage, heat pumps, and energy-efficient LED lighting. These technologies will enable carbon-neutral operations and support DHL’s sustainability goals.

The warehouse will feature a modular design, allowing it to support conventional logistics operations, e-commerce fulfilment, and automated solutions depending on customer requirements. By expanding logistics capacity in the region, DHL aims to improve supply chain resilience while providing companies with scalable and environmentally responsible logistics infrastructure.

Local officials expect the project to strengthen the regional economy by creating new jobs and enhancing Rheinbach’s role as an important logistics location within the European supply chain network.
