DHL Expands Cold Chain Network with Six New Healthcare Corridors Connecting Europe, North America and Asia

DHL Global Forwarding has announced a major expansion of its global Cold Chain Network, introducing six new dedicated air freight corridors connecting Europe and North America with key pharmaceutical markets across Asia. The initiative aims to improve the transportation of temperature-sensitive healthcare products, including pharmaceuticals, vaccines, biologics and clinical trial materials.

The newly established corridors connect Liège with Shanghai, Brussels with Shanghai and Singapore, and Cincinnati with Singapore, Tokyo Narita and Seoul Incheon. These connections strengthen DHL's presence in major pharmaceutical manufacturing and distribution hubs, providing customers with greater routing flexibility, reliable temperature-controlled capacity and improved supply chain efficiency.

A key advantage of the expanded network is DHL's increased control over cargo handling and transportation. Most flights operate within DHL's own aviation network, reducing unnecessary cargo transfers and minimizing the risk of temperature fluctuations. The company also utilizes Boeing 777 freighters equipped with three compartments offering different temperature settings to accommodate sensitive healthcare shipments.

The expansion follows the introduction of the Brussels–Cincinnati healthcare corridor earlier in 2026 and forms part of DHL's broader strategy to develop an integrated global healthcare logistics network. The company is also investing in specialized infrastructure, including a new Cold Chain Hub in Singapore with dedicated storage facilities for products requiring temperatures between 2–8°C and 15–25°C.

For the international logistics industry, this development highlights the growing importance of specialized pharmaceutical transportation. As demand for temperature-sensitive medicines and advanced healthcare treatments continues to increase, reliable cold chain solutions are becoming essential for maintaining product quality, reducing supply chain risks and ensuring the safe delivery of critical medical products worldwide.

Through this expansion, DHL continues to strengthen its position in healthcare logistics while supporting more efficient and reliable pharmaceutical supply chains across global markets.
