UPS Invests $48 Million to Expand Temperature-Controlled Healthcare Logistics Network

UPS Healthcare has announced a $48 million investment in 27 temperature-controlled freight cross-dock facilities across key markets in North America, Europe, Asia, and Latin America. The investment is designed to strengthen the company's global cold-chain network and support the growing demand for advanced therapies and other temperature-sensitive pharmaceutical products.
The new cross-dock facilities are strategically located to accelerate the transfer of shipments between air and ground transportation while maintaining strict temperature requirements. By minimizing storage time and ensuring continuous temperature control, UPS aims to improve shipment speed, product integrity, and end-to-end visibility throughout the healthcare supply chain.
The expanded network will support pharmaceutical manufacturers, clinical trials, biotechnology companies, and healthcare providers transporting high-value products such as biologics, cell and gene therapies, vaccines, and other critical medicines. UPS noted that maintaining an uninterrupted chain of custody is becoming increasingly important as demand for complex healthcare logistics continues to rise worldwide.
