DSV is strengthening its global pharmaceutical logistics network with the expansion of its Air ThermoDirect service, introducing new direct air freight connections linking Shanghai with major healthcare hubs in Europe and the United States.

The expansion includes a new direct connection between Luxembourg Airport and Shanghai Pudong International Airport (PVG), with additional US connectivity planned as DSV responds to growing demand for reliable temperature-controlled pharmaceutical transportation.

Connecting Major Global Pharma Hubs

Shanghai is one of Asia's most important pharmaceutical and healthcare logistics gateways, providing access to the rapidly growing Chinese and wider Asian healthcare markets.

The new Luxembourg-Shanghai service operates with dedicated freighter capacity, giving DSV greater control over scheduling, routing and cargo handling.

An additional connection between Indianapolis and Shanghai is also planned, further strengthening DSV's pharmaceutical logistics network between Europe, the United States and Asia.

Greater Control Over Temperature-Sensitive Cargo

Pharmaceutical shipments require strict temperature management and minimal exposure to uncontrolled environments.

DSV's Air ThermoDirect solution combines dedicated air capacity with specialised cold-chain handling and thermal packaging solutions to provide greater reliability, visibility and control throughout the transportation process.

In Shanghai, the operation is supported by DSV's partnership with Eastern Air Logistics, alongside specialised cold-chain infrastructure provided by China Eastern Logistics Cold Chain.

More Sustainable Cold-Chain Solutions

The Air ThermoDirect model also uses reusable and modular thermal packaging solutions.

This reduces reliance on traditional passive packaging and active containers while providing a flexible and scalable approach to temperature-controlled transportation.

DSV says the approach can help customers reduce operating costs and packaging waste while maintaining strict pharmaceutical handling requirements.

Strengthening the Global Healthcare Supply Chain

The latest expansion builds on DSV's growing network of specialised pharmaceutical logistics services and strengthens connections between some of the world's most important healthcare manufacturing regions.

With pharmaceutical supply chains becoming increasingly global and demand for temperature-controlled transportation continuing to rise, direct connections between major pharma hubs can provide greater speed, reliability and product integrity.

The expansion of Air ThermoDirect further positions DSV to support healthcare customers across Europe, Asia and the Americas with increasingly integrated cold-chain solutions.
