Hong Kong Air Cargo has expanded its international network with the launch of a new dedicated freighter service connecting Hong Kong and Mumbai, strengthening air cargo links between two of Asia’s most important commercial and logistics markets.

The new service forms part of the airline’s broader global expansion strategy and represents another significant step in its growing presence in the Indian market. Mumbai is one of India’s key cargo and export gateways, providing access to a large manufacturing and trading base while also serving as an important connection point for international supply chains.

The launch follows the appointment of Aeroprime Group as Hong Kong Air Cargo’s Cargo General Sales & Service Agent (GSSA) in India less than two months ago. The rapid introduction of the Mumbai service highlights the growing cooperation between the two companies and their focus on expanding the airline’s cargo capabilities in India.

The new connection is expected to provide Indian exporters with additional air freight capacity as well as improved access to Hong Kong and onward international markets through Hong Kong Air Cargo’s network.

For Hong Kong Air Cargo, the route also strengthens the role of its Hong Kong hub as an important gateway connecting cargo flows between Greater China, India and other global markets.

Raymond Chen, Vice President Commercial at Hong Kong Air Cargo, described the Mumbai launch as an important step in the carrier’s India growth strategy, highlighting Mumbai’s position as a major export hub and the progress achieved together with Aeroprime Group.

Aeroprime Group Executive Director Abhishek Goyal similarly highlighted Mumbai’s importance as one of India’s strategic cargo gateways, noting that the new operation will provide customers with greater capacity, stronger connectivity and reliable cargo solutions.

Flight tracking data indicated that Hong Kong Air Cargo operated a flight from Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport to Hong Kong International Airport on August 6, while the carrier’s August charter schedule includes the Hong Kong–Mumbai route. Earlier plans had also referenced charter operations involving the new Navi Mumbai International Airport.

The launch demonstrates Hong Kong Air Cargo’s continued ambition to expand its international freighter network while tapping into the growing demand for air cargo capacity between China, Hong Kong and India.
