Lorenza Maggio appointed CEO of Brussels Airlines

Lufthansa Group has appointed Lorenza Maggio as the new Chief Executive Officer of Brussels Airlines, effective 31 August 2026, subject to approval by the Board of Directors of SN Airholding. She succeeds Dorothea von Boxberg, who is leaving the airline at her own request after successfully leading the carrier through a period of growth and operational recovery.
Maggio joins Brussels Airlines from ITA Airways, where she served as Chief Strategy, Integration, IT & Touchpoints Officer, playing a key role in the airline's integration into the Lufthansa Group. Before that, she held several senior commercial positions within Lufthansa Group, including Vice President Sales for Europe, the Middle East and Africa, bringing extensive experience in airline strategy, commercial management and business transformation.
As CEO, Maggio will oversee the continued development of Brussels Airlines, with a focus on strengthening operational performance, enhancing the customer experience and supporting the airline's strategic position within the Lufthansa Group network. The appointment reflects the group's commitment to developing leadership talent from within while reinforcing Brussels Airlines' role as Belgium's national carrier and a key player in European and African air connectivity.
Commenting on the appointment, Lufthansa Group highlighted Maggio's strong leadership record and deep understanding of airline operations, expressing confidence that she will successfully guide Brussels Airlines through its next phase of growth.
