Qatar Airways Cargo has introduced Pharma Passive FlexTemp, a new pharmaceutical logistics solution designed to manage dual temperature requirements within a single shipment journey. The launch marks the first solution of its kind in the air cargo industry and further strengthens the carrier’s position within specialized pharmaceutical transportation.
The new service is available as an add on to Qatar Airways Cargo’s existing Pharma Passive and Pharma Critical Passive products. It is specifically designed to support temperature sensitive pharmaceutical and healthcare shipments whose thermal requirements change during transit, particularly when single use passive packaging approaches the end of its effective lifecycle.
As the pharmaceutical industry increasingly adopts self contained passive packaging solutions, maintaining precise temperature control throughout transportation has become more complex. Many healthcare shipments begin their journey within one temperature range but later require different storage conditions to preserve product integrity and shelf life. Until now, this transition stage has remained largely unsupported within the air cargo sector.
By launching Pharma Passive FlexTemp, Qatar Airways Cargo aims to address this operational gap and provide customers with greater flexibility, improved reliability, and enhanced protection for temperature sensitive cargo moving across its global network. The solution allows pharmaceutical shipments to adapt to evolving thermal requirements during transport without compromising compliance or product quality.
The service is now available for booking through Qatar Airways Cargo’s Digital Lounge and can be used across all designated FlexTemp corridors within the airline’s network.
The launch also reflects the growing importance of pharmaceutical logistics within the global air cargo market. Demand for reliable temperature controlled transportation has increased significantly in recent years due to the expansion of biologics, vaccines, and other healthcare products requiring strict cold chain management. Airlines and logistics providers are therefore investing heavily in advanced pharmaceutical handling capabilities and digital monitoring technologies.
Qatar Airways Cargo has continued expanding its pharmaceutical logistics portfolio under its broader Next Generation Pharma strategy, which focuses on enhanced visibility, digitalization, temperature control, and specialized handling solutions for healthcare shipments.
