Qatar Airways Cargo has announced the resumption of both freighter and belly-hold services to Iraq, restoring important cargo connectivity between Doha and Baghdad.
The carrier will introduce a weekly Boeing 777 freighter service to Baghdad (BGW) starting 7 May, followed by the resumption of twice-weekly passenger flights from 10 May. With both operations in place, total cargo capacity will exceed 115 tonnes per week from Doha to Baghdad.
Expanding Network and Capacity
As of 1 May, Qatar Airways Cargo has expanded its freighter network to over 60 destinations, while its belly-hold network will grow to more than 150 destinations from mid-June.
All cargo products are now fully available for booking through standard sales channels, including the airline’s Digital Lounge and local sales teams, ensuring easy access to capacity for customers.
Strengthening Global Air Freight Connectivity
With the resumption of services to Iraq, Qatar Airways Cargo continues to enhance its role in supporting global supply chains, particularly in the Middle East region.
Operating from its hub at Hamad International Airport, the airline offers a comprehensive logistics network supported by a fleet of 30 Boeing 777 freighters and more than 230 passenger aircraft providing belly capacity.
Focus on Innovation and Sustainability
Qatar Airways Cargo remains focused on innovation, with investments in digitalisation, infrastructure, and customer-focused services. The airline is also preparing for the introduction of the Boeing 777-8F, which is expected to deliver significant improvements in fuel efficiency and emissions.
In parallel, the company continues to advance its sustainability initiatives through the WeQare programme, supporting environmental, social, and humanitarian projects worldwide.
